CCSD Leaders Celebrate Carmel Elementary's Selection as A National Distinguished School

We celebrated Carmel Elementary School today for being named a National ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act) Distinguished School!  Only 100 schools across the nation are selected for this prestigious annual recognition celebrating exceptional student performance and academic growth.  State leaders praised Carmel’s teachers and leaders for monitoring student performance and progress data to adjust instruction, strengthening phonics and vocabulary instruction, encouraging student ownership of learning, and partnering with parents, and local businesses and organizations, to further support student success.  Superintendent of Schools Mary Elizabeth Davis, School Board member Dr. Susan Padgett-Harrison, and senior leadership staff joined in today’s celebration, which included a banner presentation and treats for teachers and staff sponsored by the Cherokee County Educational Foundation. Carmel is the first CCSD school to win this prestigious national recognition!  #CCSDElevateTheExcellence
